Kievans urge authorities to reject erecting the monument to Mazepa on the
eve of Victory Day
Kiev, May 7, Interfax – Orthodox activists of Kiev during a patriotic
march dedicated to the Victory Day requested the country’s government not
to finance erecting the monument to Hetman Ivan Mazepa.“Participants in
the march paid tribute to the heroes of World War II and traditionally
spoke against distortion of national historical memory and blasphemous
imposing such odious personalities as Hetman Mazepa as a model,” the

Bulgarian Icons Displayed in Paris
Unique masterpieces of the Orthodox art, worth millions of euro, will
be put on display in Paris from May 11 to August 30. Eighty icons, 4
sculptures and 7 old manuscripts will decorate the church of Sainte
Chapelle in Paris.. The exposition, organized by the Bulgarian Ministry of
Culture, is the first of its kind in this church, which was under

Vladimir's Seminary Men's Choir on the road
Alla Generalow, Director of Liturgical Music at St. Vladimir’s Seminary
(SVS), conducted the seminary's touring men’s choir at two parishes in
Maryland on February 21 and 22, 2009. The choir sang at St. Mark Church in
Bethesda, MD, a parish within the Orthodox Church in America (OCA), for
Vespers, and Ss. Peter and Paul Church in Potomac, MD, a parish within the
Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America (AOCANA), for
